In the year 1975, Glendora and her husband Franklyn would go to the bank and would purchase a US Treasury bill for $10,000. In those days, the US Treasury paid the interest up front. Five days later on Saturday, we would receive $360 in interest. On the day before, every Friday, we would receive a $10,000 check from the Treasury for the Treasury bill we bought thirteen weeks ago. On the following Monday, we would take the money to the bank and buy another 13 week Treasury bill. So every week, we were blessed with $360 approximately with no work. What do you think of that?

That year, the interest went almost to 20%. Prior to that, the interest rate was about 16%.

Then, the international banker stepped in and wanted the money that we were enjoying, and the big interest rate disappeared. Now, interest rate is a decimal of one percent. Folks, do you know how much that $360 is worth today? That would be about $2,234 today.
