Hello! My name is Frank Torres and I am running for a spot on the Board of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Valley. This congregation has given me a lot in terms of community and grounding, and I’d like the opportunity to give back with my energy and service.
However, due to our bylaws, the current Board determines who will run in upcoming Board elections. Unfortunately, I was passed over for this year’s nominations. If you think we should have open elections, then I’m the dark horse candidate for you.

- Am a proud Dad of a trans kiddo
- Have been a member of the congregation for over a decade
- Am on the Speakers Committee and have wrangled 2-3 new service speakers
- Have a background in non-profit fundraising, event planning and advertising
- Am a small business owner
- Have mad website design and hosting skills
- Am a survivor of homelessness and food insecurity, as well as resultant mental health issues
I am also a person of color, to add some much-needed diversity to our current Board.
By no means am I perfect. I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my life that I’ve tried to atone for, doing my best to grow and live in a spirit of redemption.
