Admiral Lisa Franchetti is a retired United States Navy four-star admiral who made history as the 33rd Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), serving from November 2023 until February 2025. She was the first woman to lead the U.S. Navy and the first female member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Another woman who became Admiral in the US Navy was Grace Hopper. She is renowned for her brilliant discovery of computer languages. She was a graduate of Vassar College in Glendora’s neighborhood of Poughkeepsie, NY.
